Remote control for YouTube app

Even though this post is meant for teachers, students are probably going to like this one even better and consider this app straightforwardly "uber cool".
I show YouTube videos quite often for my film editing classes as well as for my English classes. And here a nifty little app comes in quite handy: remote control for YouTube

You can use your phone to
  • Play and pause a video
  • Control the volume
  • Jump to a certain point in the time slider
  • Use playlists and search to show

You can actually prepare the playlist before class. That saves you the trouble of finding the video on youtube in the first place. In foreign language classes this app is particularly useful as the teacher often has to show a video several times.
So, here is how it works:
  1. Install and run the app on your phone and log into your youtube account
  2. On the computer connected to the projector open http://www.youtube.com/leanback and log in.

It’s as easy as that. No wi-fi, no additional software to install on the PC.
